E4: What is the Revolution You Want to Lead? with Rochelle Moulton [Authority Building]

Today, I’m visiting with Rochelle Moulton where we explore several of the concepts in her book, the Authority Code.  We start with the difference between “authority” and “expertise” and, yes, there are several meaningful differences. I also used the opportunity to have her help me think through how to articulate my point of view and the revolution I want to lead.  Your revolution--or big idea--is where you want to take your audience. Why start a revolution and what does it have to do with serving our clients?

In this episode, we’ll cover:

  • You’re reaching out to people who ascribe to your worldview.
  • People buy based on emotion, so grab their attention!
  • What mark do you want to leave on the planet? Push yourself past the discomfort.
  • Be unforgettable!

Rochelle Moulton turns independent consultants into authorities. The author of The Authority Code: How To Position, Monetize And Sell Your Expertise, she has been called “an emotional Red Bull” for her balance of inspiration and practical advice. She earned her consulting stripes by leading introverted brainiacs at two powerhouse consulting firms and turning around the failing consulting arm of a Fortune 500 company. She built three professional firms from scratch—including selling one to Arthur Andersen. She co-hosts “The Business of Authority” and is a leading voice in the independent consulting space.
